The factory ECU is for much lower boost then we run and also lowers boost in safety mode. If you can lower boost, add fuel and retard timing you can be safe. Lowering timing before detonation occurs will help prevent detonation. BUT, Like I said above.....If you lower timing once detonation has occured and you can't lower boost with it, You will create more detonation and melt holes in pistons. You failed to anwer my personal question about the part you owe me. :correct" Greg. There's no debate, you are wrong. Give me all the props you want, you're still wrong. (banter mode: ON) :I can garantee you though that if you lower timing once detonation occurs the temps will go up create a larger problem. :You are failing to recognize what causes detonation and further confusing cylinder component temperatures and exhaust gas temperatures. :If your claim is true and correct, then why would the factory ECU from Nissan have a knock control system which retards timing when knock is detected? :The reason is because retarding timing lowers cylinder component temperatures, which wards off detonation. By firing the plug at a later time in the compression stroke, you expose the parts to less temperature and more of that temperature goes out the exhaust valves, which raises the exhaust gas temperature, but it also lessens the probability of detonation. :IF you want me to explain further, I will prove your theory increasingly less correct, but I think I've said enough. : : :
